May 15, 2009 Where's your car?
But listen to this. Not all cars were stolen. Some owners went gambling in a neighboring country – no idea which country – Wah! Acting like high rollers .. lost all their money and were forced to surrender their cars.
So came back to Malaysia empty handed, no car and money. Wonder if they told their honey at home the truth. But they did lie like hell to the police and their insurance or finance companies that their cars were stolen in another country.
So easy isn’t it … nowhere to check and there’s nothing insurance companies can do but just pay up … no hassle.
Then there are guys who probably borrowed money from alongs … couldn’t pay and walla! … sold their cars to syndicates and same thing … declared to police and insurance/finance companies, car stolen … not their fault … so insurance again … paid up.
Lastly there are owners who bought cars knowing they could not afford it. After a few months or more ... could not keep up with payments … no problem. Here take the car, drive it out of the country. Six months later, lodge police reports ... cause that's how long it takes for syndicates to dispose of the car to other countries.
It’s really tough on finance and insurance companies and you should feel sorry for them. They have been swindled in broad daylight and it’s no wonder why your car insurance is so high? Folks have to pay for the rotten and despicable actions of these unscrupulous scoundrels.
So what’s the solution? The CID director Datuk Seri Bakri Mohd Zinin said the police are advocating passports for vehicles, in an effort to keep track of cars being driven out of the country.
He said the Road Transport Department is the authority which should implement the move and there have been on-going discussions but … nothing yet from Ong Tee Keat ... I think?
Bakri is also suggesting e-plates or/and electronic registration number system as well as a mirco-dot system, a kind of electronic identification system to prevent theft of car parts.
Anyways … did you lose a car lately?

.Thirty cars worth RM2.3mil were recovered in Singapore. The vehicles which include luxury cars were brought into the republic individually or in bulk to be re-exported to other countries in the region, West Asia, Eastern Europe and South Africa.
