Recep Tayyip Erdogan , PM Turki meninggalkan Shimon Peres, Presiden Israel terkulat-kuat semasa `World Economic Forum' di Davos, Switzerland setelah bertelagah dgn Presiden Israel mengenai GAZA. Beliau menyatakan moderator majlis itu beri masa lebih kepada Presiden Israel untuk bercakap sementara hanya masa pendek untuk beliau bercakap. Beliau ingin bercakap lebih untuk menyatakan pendapat beliau mengenai GAZA. Menyifatkan presiden Israel suka mengarah-garah dan angkuh, beliau meninnggalkan majlis tersebut. Tindakan beliau disambut meriah oleh rakyat Turki yang menyifatkan beliau sebagai hero.

Erdogan is the only Muslim leader who has allowed an Isreali leader (and Shemon Peres for that) to addess a Parliament of a Muslim nation. No Muslim nation including those who maintain diplomatic relations with Isreal has ever allowed an Isreali leader to do so and it was Erdogan who was an exception. In his address to the Turkish Paliament, Peres said (quotes plus report):

Peres expressed the gratitude of Israel to the people in Turkey who opened their doors to Jews when they were expelled from Spain in 1492. Turkish Sultan Beyazid II accepted Jews into the Ottoman Empire, the predecessor of modern Turkey, after they were expelled from Spain. 

"Here, they found a home of tolerance where they could freely practice their religion," Peres said in his speech, given in Hebrew and translated into Turkish. "I came here to express my gratitude to Turkey." 

Turkey also aided Jews fleeing the Holocaust, including Turkish Jews abroad. (End of quote/report). 

So, according to Peres, the Turks welcomed them from Christian Persecution in Spain. He too should appreciate history and stop Palestinian persecution. This is a human issue that has no relation to religion and I'm happy the world's moral beings are starting to know the truth and demand it. "
